I have practiced General Neurology and Neuro-Psychiatry in Sarasota, Florida for the past 30 years. Aside from an out-patient practice, I am involved in medical research in clinical trials for the pharmceutical industry as well as that involving a novel drug delivery I was fortunate to invent, Direct Effects Topical Neuro-Affective Therapy. AfGin Pharma, LLC was founded to advance this technology. We have been granted 7 patents in the US, EU, and Australia; with several others filed and pending.
After college at Bucknell in Mechanical Engineering, I obtained a Masters in Environmental Engineering at Cornell. I worked as an engineer for a short period before resigning to do Pre-Med studies at Columbia in NYC. After completing Medical School at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, I performed residencies in Neurosurgery and Neurology at the University of Florida, Gainesville. I know---too much schooling! But, I didn't know what I wanted to do when I grow up. I think I know now!
In 2008, I founded a company, AfGin Pharma, LLC to advance the proprietary technology with the goal of "Improving Neuro-Therapeutics through the Advancenent of Topical Neuro-Affective Therapy."
I am married to Lisa Hangartner, a nurse I met through church and work at the hospital. She is originally from Peoria, Illinois. We have 4 children and 2 grandchildren---as well as 4 dogs, 1 cat, 2 cockatoos, and some chickens. Needless to say, there is not a dull moment in the house. Actually, it's more like a zoo.
